Save $120 on select Marriott stays with this targeted offer (Amex consumer cards)

Amex has recently launched two new offers for Marriott Bonvoy spending made with properties in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean. This article will focus on the offer targeted at select holders of American Express consumer cards.

The offer provides a one-time $120 statement credit to cardholders who spend a minimum of $300 USD on room rate and room charges at participating Marriott Bonvoy properties. The offer is valid from January 12, 2024, to March 31, 2024.

To be eligible for the offer, cardholders must first add the offer to their card and then use the same card to make the qualifying purchases. The offer is only valid for room rate and room charges at participating Marriott Bonvoy properties in the specified regions. Reservations must be made online, through the Marriott Bonvoy App, or by calling the designated phone number.

There are some exclusions to the offer, including Marriott Vacation Club, Marriott Grand Residence Club, Design Hotels, Protea Hotels, Marriott Executive Apartments, Homes & Villas by Marriott Bonvoy, Vistana Signature Network, and Vistana Residence Network. The offer also does not apply to online retail purchases, hotel amenities, or purchases of Marriott Bonvoy points.

Qualifying purchases must be made during the offer period and must total at least $300 USD. Only one statement credit is available per card member, and the credit will appear on the billing statement within 90 days after March 31, 2024.

While the offer does have some terms and conditions, it is generally a good deal for Marriott Bonvoy Amex cardholders. The offer seems to be widely targeted to Amex consumer cards, including Marriott co-branded cards and consumer Membership Rewards cards. This means that cardholders can earn 6 Marriott Bonvoy points per dollar spent alongside the $120 savings if they have been targeted.

One positive aspect of the offer is that the spending threshold does not have to be met in a single transaction. This means that cardholders making multiple cheaper Marriott stays still have a good chance of receiving the $120 rebate.

Furthermore, the offer includes more regions and territories than many similar offers in the past. While stays in Europe, Asia, South America, and Africa do not count towards the spending requirement, this offer covers a wider range of areas.

Overall, there is not much to dislike about this offer. The only downside may be the relatively short timeframe to trigger the credit. However, Amex cardholders can take advantage of this offer to save $120 on $300 of spending at select Marriott brands in North America, the US Territories, Mexico, and the Caribbean.
