Sanctuary Cap Cana is an all-inclusive resort located in the Dominican Republic, just a short drive from the Punta Cana International Airport. It recently joined the Marriott Bonvoy program and is now part of Marriott’s Luxury Collection. I had the opportunity to visit the resort last year for a friend’s wedding, and I was pleasantly surprised by the experience.
One of my initial concerns about all-inclusive resorts was the quality of the food and drinks. However, Sanctuary Cap Cana exceeded my expectations in this regard. The resort offers a variety of dining options, including a buffet restaurant called Casa Bella that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The buffet had a wide range of options, from salads and ceviche to made-to-order Asian stir-fry and gelato. The food was fresh, flavorful, and exceeded my expectations for a buffet-style meal.
In addition to Casa Bella, the resort has four specialty restaurants: Blue Marlin, Wok, Capriccio, and The Steak House. Unfortunately, I only had the chance to try Blue Marlin, which is a seafood restaurant located on an open-air deck over the water. The fried calamari and grilled fish were delicious, and the ambiance was perfect for a romantic dinner.
The resort offers a variety of accommodations, including rooms in the main Colonial section, the more exclusive Castle section, and private villas scattered throughout the property. I opted for a Castle Junior Suite, which was an oceanfront room with an 840-square-foot living space. The room was beautifully decorated with beach-inspired decor and had a large sitting area, a comfortable bed, and a spacious bathroom with his-and-her sinks, a soaking tub, and a separate shower. The best part of the room was the large terrace with stunning views of the Caribbean Sea. It was the perfect place to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
Another aspect of the resort that impressed me was the level of service. The staff at Sanctuary Cap Cana were friendly, attentive, and went above and beyond to ensure that guests had a pleasant stay. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with a bottle of sparkling wine and a box of chocolates in our room. The mini-fridge was stocked with water, sodas, and Dominican beers, and the toiletries in the bathroom were replenished daily. The attention to detail and personalized service made our stay even more enjoyable.
Overall, my experience at Sanctuary Cap Cana was fantastic. The resort exceeded my expectations in terms of the quality of the food, the accommodations, and the level of service. It’s the perfect destination for a romantic getaway, a wedding, or a relaxing vacation. Whether you’re a Marriott loyalist looking to earn points or simply looking for a luxurious all-inclusive experience, Sanctuary Cap Cana is definitely worth considering.
