First Oneworld Alliance-branded lounge opens in Seoul

Travelers headed to South Korea can now enjoy a new and unique lounge experience at Incheon International Airport. The airport in Seoul recently unveiled the first-ever Oneworld Alliance branded lounge, which is open to first class, business class, and high-level elite status members of the global alliance. This is a significant development for Oneworld, as it previously did not operate its own branded lounge, unlike its competitors in the global alliance market. The lounge spans nearly 6,000 square feet and is located in Terminal 1, within walking distance of all gates used by the seven Oneworld airlines that fly in and out of Incheon.

The Oneworld Lounge in Seoul is situated on the fourth floor of the terminal, near Gate 28. It is conveniently located within 10 minutes of all Oneworld gates, making it easily accessible for eligible passengers. The lounge is open to business class and first class flyers traveling aboard Oneworld carriers at Incheon. Currently, seven Oneworld airlines serve the airport, including American Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Finnair, Malaysian Airlines, Qantas, Qatar, and Sri Lankan Airlines. Even if passengers are not flying in one of the premium cabins, they can still access the lounge if they hold Oneworld Emerald or Sapphire elite status. For American Airlines AAdvantage loyalty program members, this translates to Platinum status and above. However, it is important to note that an Admirals Club membership will not grant access to the lounge unless passengers have the requisite Oneworld status or a first or business-class ticket. The lounge operates from 7:30 a.m. to 11:45 p.m. daily, except for Mondays and Saturdays when it opens earlier at 4:30 a.m.

The design of the Oneworld Lounge in Seoul is described as a vibrant and calming space that incorporates elements of South Korean culture. The lounge features seating for up to 148 customers and offers a variety of seating options, including high-top tables and chairs for relaxation. The lounge is filled with natural light, making it ideal for planespotting. The navy and bright red furniture, glass art, and orange lanterns add a touch of color to the space. The lounge is divided into different zones, each with its own unique aesthetic, allowing customers to choose an area that suits their mood and needs. Facilities in the lounge include a full bar, dining options, and private shower facilities.

The opening of the Oneworld Lounge in Seoul is a significant development for Oneworld Alliance and its customers. It marks the alliance’s first branded lounge and provides enhanced lounge access for Oneworld flyers at Incheon. Previously, only a limited number of Oneworld carriers at Incheon had lounge access through non-alliance partnerships. The opening of this lounge demonstrates Oneworld’s commitment to providing a premium travel experience for its customers. It remains to be seen if and where future Oneworld Lounges may be opened in the future, but for now, travelers to South Korea can enjoy this new and unique lounge option at Incheon International Airport.
