Earn World of Hyatt points by staying in these glam New York treehouses

The childhood treehouse has received a major upgrade at The Chatwal Lodge, a tony resort in upstate New York. The resort, part of the Unbound Collection by Hyatt, recently opened three new “treehouses” that are actually luxurious cabins nestled 15 feet off the ground among the trees. These elevated accommodations offer modern design, cozy furniture, and breathtaking views of the surrounding historic Chapin Estate.

Gone are the days of cramped and rudimentary treehouses from our childhood. Each of the 1,300-square-foot treehouses at The Chatwal Lodge can sleep up to four guests and features a king-size bed on the main level, a loft with a queen-size Murphy bed, a living room with a wet bar, and a covered balcony and exterior deck with a gas-powered fire pit. The bathrooms even have heated floors and Malin & Goetz products.

According to Aaron Alexandar, the general manager at The Chatwal Lodge, the addition of the treehouses is a commitment to prioritize the guest experience. These unique and secluded accommodations bring a new level of luxury to the resort while still honoring its rich history.

While the nightly rates for the treehouses start at $2,300, guests can earn World of Hyatt points for their stay. However, award nights are not currently available for the treehouses since they are classified as premium accommodations. It is possible that this may change in the future.

The Chatwal Lodge remains an intimate and exclusive getaway, with only 11 suites and cottages in addition to the three treehouses. The resort focuses on farm-to-table dining at Rustic Grill, sourcing ingredients from local farmers in the Catskills region. The Garden Bar & Lounge adds to the rustic and camp-like atmosphere with a bar area centered around a crackling fireplace.

For those staying in a treehouse, the experience can be heightened by enjoying room service delivered straight to their lofty perch. The resort also has plans to open a pool and spa concept later this year, further enhancing the overall guest experience.

The addition of the treehouses at The Chatwal Lodge is part of Hyatt’s ongoing push into luxury and lifestyle hotels that offer unique experiences. The resort joined the Hyatt network through the acquisition of Dream Hotel Group, which included the Dream Hotels, Time Hotels, Uncharted Hotels, and The Chatwal brands. This acquisition has allowed Hyatt to expand its presence in New York and enhance its properties.

In conclusion, The Chatwal Lodge’s treehouses offer a truly elevated and luxurious experience. Nestled among the trees, these modern cabins provide guests with breathtaking views, cozy accommodations, and a unique escape into nature. Although the rates may be steep, the opportunity to earn World of Hyatt points and the potential availability of award nights in the future make these treehouses a desirable destination for those seeking a luxurious and memorable getaway.
