Avelo announces 3 new routes, 1 new city

Avelo Airlines, the ultra-low-cost carrier that began operations in 2021, has recently announced three new routes, signaling its commitment to expanding its network and serving more passengers. These new routes not only strengthen one of its crew bases but also introduce a new destination to its route map.

One of the new routes will connect North Carolina’s capital region to New York. Starting in May, Avelo will fly twice a week from Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) to Albany International Airport (ALB). This addition comes as no surprise as Avelo has been actively expanding its presence at RDU, where it launched a crew base just one year ago. The airline currently employs 90 staff members at RDU and has added a second Boeing 737 aircraft to its fleet stationed there. With the inclusion of the Raleigh-Durham to Albany route, Avelo will now operate flights between RDU and a total of four airports across New England, New York, and Florida.

The second set of new routes originates from Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport (GSP) in South Carolina. Avelo will offer nonstop flights to Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport (ROC) and Manchester-Boston Regional Airport (MHT) in New Hampshire. The Greenville-to-Rochester service will commence on May 9 with flights operating twice a week on Thursdays and Sundays. The Greenville-to-Manchester service will start on May 10, providing travelers with two weekly flight options on Mondays and Fridays. These additions will offer passengers in the Greenville-Spartanburg metro area more options for travel and connectivity.

Avelo’s expansion into Albany is significant for the airport, as it will now have two ultra-low-cost carriers serving its passengers. Currently, Allegiant Air is the only budget airline operating at Albany, offering flights to a few popular leisure destinations. The presence of Avelo will provide passengers with more choices and potentially lower fares, creating healthy competition in the market.

For Avelo, these new routes demonstrate its commitment to providing affordable travel options to passengers in underserved markets. By connecting cities like Raleigh-Durham, Greenville-Spartanburg, Albany, Rochester, and Manchester, the airline is catering to both leisure and business travelers looking for affordable and convenient flights. The addition of these routes also highlights Avelo’s rapid growth since its launch, as it continues to expand its network and increase its presence in key regions.

As the aviation industry continues to recover from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, Avelo’s expansion is a positive sign of recovery and resilience. The airline’s focus on serving underserved markets and offering competitive fares positions it well for success in the post-pandemic travel landscape. Passengers can look forward to more options and affordable travel as Avelo continues to grow and expand its route network.

In conclusion, Avelo Airlines’ announcement of three new routes is a testament to its commitment to growth and expansion. By doubling down on its crew base at Raleigh-Durham International Airport and adding new destinations such as Albany, Rochester, and Manchester, the ultra-low-cost carrier is providing more options for travelers seeking affordable and convenient flights. As the aviation industry recovers, Avelo’s expansion signifies a positive step towards recovery and resilience in the airline sector. Passengers can expect more affordable travel options as Avelo continues to expand its network and serve underserved markets.
